Effects of this medicine

This medicine inhibits an enzyme which hydrolyzes the neurotransmitter acetylcholine in brain, increase the amount of acetylcholine in brain, promotes the transmission of nerve information, and slows progression of the symptoms of dementia such as memory loss.

Before using this medicine, be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist

  • If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rash, etc.) to any medicines.
    If you have: sick sinus syndrome, heart diseases such as sinoatrial block and atrioventricular block, gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer, urinary tract obstruction, convulsive disorders such as epilepsy, bronchial asthma, obstructive lung disease, Parkinson's disease, Parkinson syndrome or hepatic dysfunction.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)

Dosing schedule (How to take this medicine)

  • Your dosing schedule prescribed by your doctor is ((        to be written by a healthcare professional))
  • In general, for adults, start at 4.5 mg tape once a day, then the dose will be increased by 4.5 mg a day at 4 week intervals. Eventually, apply a 18 mg tape once a day as a maintenance dose. Depending on your condition, start at 9 mg tape once a day, then the dose will be increased to 18 mg after 4 weeks. Apply a tape a day on intact healthy skin either on the back, upper arm or chest, and replace it with a new one every 24 hours. This preparation contains 4.5 mg of the active ingredient in a tape. Strictly follow the instructions.
  • Avoid areas with scratches, eczema, dermatitis, etc., and apply on areas other than the previous one.
  • To prevent more than one tape from being applied at one time, remove the old tape and then apply a new one.
  • Do not cut the tape for using.
  • If you miss a dose, apply a dose as soon as possible and then continue your regular applying schedule instructed from your doctor. You should never apply two doses at one time.
  • If you accidentally apply more than your prescribed dose, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
  • Do not stop applying this medicine unless your doctor instructs you to do so.

Precautions while taking this medicine

  • This medicine may cause dizziness or drowsiness, do not let the patient engage in the operation of dangerous machinery such as driving a car.
  • As weight loss may occur, be attentive to your body weight changes.

Possible adverse reactions to this medicine

The most commonly reported adverse reactions include decreased appetite, nausea, dermatitis and redness, itch, swelling on the applied area. If any of these symptoms occur, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse reactions indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.
  • chest pain, cold sweat, dizziness [angina pectoris, myocardial infarction, bradycardia, atrioventricular block, sick sinus syndrome]
  • headache, vomiting, sudden muscle rigidity and body stiffness [cerebrovascular accident, convulsive seizure]
  • vomiting, pain in the pit of the stomach, melena [severe vomiting with esophageal rupture, gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer, gastrointestinal bleeding]
  • general malaise, loss of appetite, yellowness in skin or in conjunctiva [hepatitis]
  • faint [syncope]
The above symptoms do not describe all the adverse reactions to this medicine. Consult with your doctor or pharmacist if you notice any symptoms of concern other than those listed above.

Storage conditions and other information

  • Keep out of the reach of children. Store away from direct sunlight, heat and moisture.
  • Discard the used patches with folding the adhesive surface on the inward side, and keep out of the reach of children.
  • Discard the remainder. Do not store them. Ask your pharmacy or medical institution on how to discard the remainder.
