Effects of this medicine

This medicine is an aminoglycoside antibiotic. It inhibits protein synthesis of bacteria and shows bactericidal antimicrobial action.
It is usually used to improve symptoms in cystic fibrosis associated with respiratory infection caused by pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Before using this medicine, be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist

  • If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rash, etc.) to any medicines.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)

Dosing schedule (How to take this medicine)

  • Your dosing schedule prescribed by your doctor is ((        to be written by a healthcare professional))
  • In general, repeat the cycle of inhaling 1 ampule (30 mg of the active ingredient) at a time twice daily for 28 days with a drug cessation period of 28 days. Strictly follow the instructions.
  • Do not take this medicine by means other than nebulizer.
  • Inhale this medicine at an interval of 12 hours as far as possible and at least 6 hours apart.
  • Use PARI LC Plus Nebulizer and Pulmo-Aide Compressor as a general rule.
  • When you inhale bronchodilator agent(s) or receive lung physical therapy, inhale this medicine after these agent(s)/therapy.
  • Do not dilute this medicine or mix with other medicines.
  • Open the ampule just before inhaling and use it up in a single use. Do not reuse the opened ampules. Discard them.
  • If you miss a dose, inhale a dose as soon as you remember. However, if it is 6 hours or less before the next dose, skip the missed dose and follow your regular dosing schedule.
  • If you accidentally inhale more than your prescribed dose, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
  • Do not stop inhaling this medicine unless your doctor instructs you to do so.

Precautions while taking this medicine

Possible adverse reactions to this medicine

The most commonly reported adverse reactions include cough, pharyngitis, rhinitis, chest pain, cough with bloody phlegm, increased sputum, taste abnormality, voice disorder and asthenia.
If any of these symptoms occur, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse reactions indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.
  • decreased urine output, swelling [acute renal failure]
  • dizziness, ear ringing, hearing difficulty [eighth cranial nerve disorders]
The above symptoms do not describe all the adverse reactions to this medicine. Consult with your doctor or pharmacist if you notice any symptoms of concern other than those listed above.

Storage conditions and other information

  • Keep out of the reach of children. Store in refrigerator (2-8 degrees Celsius) without freezing, and avoid moisture.
  • Keep unopened ampules in aluminum bag to avoid direct sunlight.
  • Do not use ampules stored in room temperature (under 25 degrees Celsius) for 28 days or longer or ampules which is beyond its expiration period printed on them.
  • Discard the remainder. Do not store them. Ask the pharmacist and the medical institution how to discard them.
