Effects of this medicine

This medicine enlarges the bronchial smooth muscle by stimulating sympathetic β2-receptors on the sympathetic nerves.
It is usually used to improve the symptoms such as respiratory distress caused by airway obstruction in bronchial asthma, acute bronchitis, chronic bronchitis or lung emphysema.

Before using this medicine, be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist

  • If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rash, etc.) to any medicines.
    If you are a patient with hyperthyroidism, hypertension, cardiac disease, diabetic mellitus or atopic dermatitis.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)

Dosing schedule (How to take this medicine)

  • Your dosing schedule prescribed by your doctor is ((        to be written by a healthcare professional))
  • In general, for adults and children aged 9 years or over, apply a 2 mg tape at a time, for children aged 6 months or over but under 3 years, apply 0.5 mg tape at a time, for children aged 3 years or over but under 9 years, apply a 1 mg tape at a time, to the chest, back, or upper arm, once daily. This preparation contains 2 mg of the active ingredient in a piece of tape. Strictly follow the instructions.
  • If the tape accidentally falls off, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
  • Read carefully the section How to apply the Hokunalin Tape in the Patient Medication Instruction before use.
  • Wipe the application site with a dry towel before applying the tape.
  • Take care not to touch the adhesive part with the fingers. If the fingers touch the adhesive part, the tape may not stick well.
  • After applying, hold down the tape firmly and evenly with the palm of your hands.
  • Children may remove the tape by themselves. Apply to a site where children cannot touch.
  • Do not apply the new tape to the same place as the last one. If you continue to apply it to the same place, this tape may cause itch or skin irritation.
  • Do not apply to areas with wound or eczema.
  • If you miss a dose (or forget to replace the old tape with a new tape), apply a tape as soon as possible. However replace the new one at the interval which your doctor instructs. You should never use two doses at one time.
  • If you accidentally apply more than your prescribed dose, remove the tape soon and consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
  • Do not stop applying this medicine unless your doctor instructs you to do so.

Precautions while taking this medicine

Possible adverse reactions to this medicine

The most commonly reported adverse reactions include tremor (tremor in limbs), palpitation, itch/itch in the application sites, contact dermatitis (redness, rash), erythema/erythema in the application sites, rash and hives. If any of these symptoms occur, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse reactions indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.
  • respiratory distress, generalized flush, hives [anaphylaxis]
  • numbness/weakness of limbs, paralysis in limbs, respiratory distress [serious reduction in serum potassium]
The above symptoms do not describe all the adverse reactions to this medicine. Consult with your doctor or pharmacist if you notice any symptoms of concern other than those listed above.

Storage conditions and other information

  • Keep out of the reach of children. Store away from direct sunlight, heat and moisture. Keep in the pack and take out from the pack everytime you use.
  • Discard the remainder. Do not store them.
