Effects of this medicine

This medicine suppresses the action of enzymes necessary for replication of a novel coronavirus (severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 [SARS-CoV-2]) to inhibit the growth of the virus.
It is usually used to treat SARS-CoV-2 infection (coronavirus disease 2 0 1 9 [COVID-19]).

Before using this medicine, be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist

  • If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rash, etc.) to any medicines.
    If you have liver/renal disorder.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)

Dosing schedule (How to take this medicine)

  • Your dosing schedule prescribed by your doctor is ((        to be written by a healthcare professional))
  • In general, administer by intravenous injection once a day.
    The maximum total treatment duration is 10 days. Consult with your doctor for the treatment duration.

Precautions while taking this medicine

  • There are very limited data available for COVID-19. Unexpected symptoms may occur or your symptoms may worsen during treatment with the medicine. If you notice any abnormality, report all symptoms to your doctor.

Possible adverse reactions to this medicine

The most commonly reported adverse reactions include respiratory failure (respiratory distress, shortness of breath), acute renal disorder (decreased urine output, edema, body dullness) and hypotension. If any of these symptoms occur, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse reactions indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, see your doctor immediately.
  • decreased urine output, edema, body dullness [acute renal dysfunction]
  • body dullness, nausea, loss of appetite [liver dysfunction]
  • nausea, vomiting, sweating [hypersensitivity (including infusion-related reactions, anaphylactic reactions)]
