Effects of this medicine

This medicine improves blood flow by suppressing platelet aggregation and expanding blood vessels through actions on the prostacyclin receptor in platelets and vascular smooth muscle.
It is usually used to improve ulcer, pain and coldness associated with chronic arterial obstruction or to treat primary pulmonary hypertension.

Before using this medicine, be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist

  • If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rash, etc.) to any medicines.
    If you have: bleeding (hemophilia, capillary fragility, upper gastrointestinal bleeding, urinary tract bleeding, hemoptysis, fundal bleeding, etc.).
  • If you are pregnant, possibly pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)

Dosing schedule (How to take this medicine)

  • Your dosing schedule prescribed by your doctor is ((        to be written by a healthcare professional))
  • For improvement of ulcer, pain and coldness associated with chronic arterial obstruction: In general, for adults, take 2 tablets (40 μg of the active ingredient) at a time, 3 times a day after meals.
    For primary pulmonary hypertension: In general, for adults, start with 1 tablet (20 μg) at a time, 3 times a day after meals and the dosage will be gradually increased. When increased, take this medicine in 3 or 4 divided doses a day, and the maximum daily dose is 9 tablets (180 μg).
    In any case, strictly follow the instruction.
  • If you miss a dose, skip the missed dose and follow your regular dosing schedule. You should never take two doses at one time.
  • If you accidentally take more than your prescribed dose, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
  • Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor instructs you to do so.

Precautions while taking this medicine

  • This medicine may cause consciousness disorder. Be aware of operating dangerous machinery such as driving a car.

Possible adverse reactions to this medicine

The most commonly reported adverse reactions include headache, facial flush, glow, diarrhea, nausea, malaise, bleeding tendency, subcutaneous bleeding, nose bleeding, anemia, rash, eczema, itch, hives and erythema. If any of these symptoms occur, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse reactions indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.
  • headache, nausea, vision dysfunction [bleeding tendency (cerebral bleeding, gastrointestinal bleeding, pulmonary bleeding, fundal bleeding)]
  • decreased blood pressure, fast pulse, pale face [shock, syncope, unconsciousness]
  • fever, cough, respiratory distress [interstitial pneumonia]
  • general malaise, loss of appetite, yellowness in skin or in conjunctiva [liver dysfunction]
  • chest pain, chest pressure, cold sweat [angina pectoris, myocardial infarction]
The above symptoms do not describe all the adverse reactions to this medicine. Consult with your doctor or pharmacist if you notice any symptoms of concern other than those listed above.

Storage conditions and other information

  • Keep out of the reach of children. Store away from direct sunlight, heat and moisture.
  • Discard the remainder. Do not store them. Ask your pharmacy or medical institution on how to discard the remainder.
