Effects of this medicine

This medicine enhances antimicrobial activity of antimicrobial agents by elevating pH in the stomach via inhibition of the proton pump in the gastric mucosa.
It is usually used concomitantly with two different antimicrobial agents for treatment of Helicobacter pylori infection which leads to development of gastric ulcer/duodenal ulcer, gastric MALT lymphoma and idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura. This medicine may also be used for a stomach after endoscopic therapy for early gastric cancer and Helicobacter pylori infectious gastritis.

Before using this medicine, be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist

  • If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rash, etc.) to any medicines.
    If you have liver disorder.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)

Dosing schedule (How to take this medicine)

  • Your dosing schedule prescribed by your doctor is ((        to be written by a healthcare professional))
  • In general, for adults, take 1 tablet (30 mg of the active ingredient) at a time, twice a day, for 7 days. Also take two different antibiotics concomitantly while taking the medicine. Strictly follow the instructions.
  • This medicine is orally-disintegrating tablet. Use either one of the following two methods to take it.
    (1) Take this medicine with water or lukewarm water like an ordinary tablet.
    (2) Place the tablet on your tongue, crush lightly with your tongue and swallow with saliva. However, do not take this medicine without water while in lying position.
  • If you miss a dose, take a dose as soon as possible. If there is less than 5 hours to the next dose, skip the missed dose and take the next dose at your regular time. You should never take two doses at one time.
  • If you accidentally take more than your prescribed dose, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
  • Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor instructs you to do so.

Precautions while taking this medicine

Possible adverse reactions to this medicine

The most commonly reported adverse reactions include loose stool, diarrhea, taste abnormality, abdomen enlarged feeling, rash and itch. If any of these symptoms occur, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse reactions indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.
  • facial pallor/cold sweat, respiratory distress, hives [anaphylaxis, shock]
  • anemia symptom, fever, nasal/subcutaneous bleeding [pancytopenia, agranulocytosis, hemolytic anemia, granulocytopenia, thrombocytopenia, anemia]
  • general malaise, nausea, yellowing of the skin and the conjunctiva [serious liver dysfunction]
  • fever, mucosal redness/erosion, erythema [toxic epidermal necrolysis, Stevens-Johnson syndrome]
  • abdominal pain, frequent diarrhea [serious colitis associated with bloody stool such as pseudomembranous colitis]
The above symptoms do not describe all the adverse reactions to this medicine. Consult with your doctor or pharmacist if you notice any symptoms of concern other than those listed above.

Storage conditions and other information

  • Keep out of the reach of children. Store away from direct sunlight, heat and moisture.
  • Discard the remainder. Do not store them.
