Effects of this medicine

This medicine is a synthetic steroid with anti-asthmatic and anti-inflammatory effects, and suppresses airway inflammation, leading to alleviations in the severity and frequency of asthma attacks.
It is usually used to treat bronchial asthma. This medicine is not used to quickly relieve an attack that has already started.

Before using this medicine, be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist

  • If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rash, etc.) to any medicines.
    If you have infections, deep mycosis or tuberculous disease that are not controlled by any antibacterial agents.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)

Dosing schedule (How to take this medicine)

  • Your dosing schedule prescribed by your doctor is ((        to be written by a healthcare professional))
  • In general, for adults, inhale 1 to 4 puffs (100 to 400 mcg of the active ingredient) at a time, once a day. The dosage should be adjusted according to the symptoms. However, the maximum daily dose should not exceed 8 puffs (800 mcg). If you inhale 8 puffs a day, inhale them in two divided doses, morning and evening. In general, for children, inhale 1 to 2 puffs (100 to 200 mcg of the active ingredient) at a time, once a day. If the symptom is well-controlled, the dosage can be reduced to 50 mcg once a day. Strictly follow the instructions.
  • When you use this medicine, read carefully the instructions on the portable bag and instruction leaflet "To Patients Using Alvesco".
  • After inhaling, gargle as much as possible. If you cannot gargle, rinse your mouth.
  • In a single can, this medicine can be sprayed for up to 112 puffs. Do not spray more than that.
  • If you inhale one dose a day and miss a dose, inhale the missed dose as soon as possible. If you inhale two doses a day and miss a dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. You should never inhale two doses at one time.
  • If you accidentally use more than your prescribed dose, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
  • Do not stop using this medicine unless your doctor instructs you to do so.

Precautions while taking this medicine

Possible adverse reactions to this medicine

The most commonly reported adverse reactions include breathing difficulty, hoarseness (husky voice), hypersensitivity symptoms (rash, bronchospasm and angioedema) and itch. If any of these symptoms occur, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse reactions indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.

Storage conditions and other information

  • Keep out of reach of children. Store away from direct sunlight, heat (50 degrees Celsius and above) and moisture.
  • Use a special adapter. Wipe the adapter with a soft, dry cloth or tissue every once in a while and keep it clean. Do not put the container or adapter in water or wash them with water.
  • Discard the remainder after emptying the gas. Do not store them. Follow the disposal methods according to each local government. Do not put the can in the fire.
