Effects of this medicine

This medicine is a urea (13C-urea) preparation which is decomposed into carbon dioxide (13CO2) and NH3 due to a potent urease activation induced by Helicobacter pylori bacteria. The carbon dioxide (13CO2) is then removed from the body in the breath. When there is an increased carbon dioxide (13CO2) in the breath sample, existence of H. pylori bacteria is detectable. (Test is called 13C-urea breath test)
It is usually used to diagnose Helicobacter pylori infection.
