Effects of this medicine

This medicine degrades mucoproteins which constitute phlegm and makes phlegm less sticky and easier to expel.
It is usually used for treatment of bronchopulmonary disease with persistent airflow limitation by phlegm such as chronic bronchitis or emphysema or for pre/post-treatment of bronchopulmonary examination or tracheotomy.

Before using this medicine, be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist

  • If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rach, etc.) to any medicines.
    If you have asthma or respiratory dysfunction.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)

Dosing schedule (How to take this medicine)

  • Your dosing schedule prescribed by your doctor is ((        to be written by a healthcare professional))
  • In general, inhale 1/2 to 2 packs (1 to 4mL of acetylcysteine sodium solution) at a time, alone or with mixed other medicine using a nebulizer. Dosage and number of doses per day should be adjusted depending on the disease, age or symptoms. Strictly follow the instructions.
  • Avoid contact of the inhalant solution with the eyes.
  • If you miss a dose, inhale the missed dose as soon as possible. You should never inhale two doses at one time.
  • If you accidentally use more than your prescribed dose, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
  • Do not stop using this medicine unless your doctor instructs you to do so.

Precautions while taking this medicine

Possible adverse reactions to this medicine

The most commonly reported adverse reactions include rash, sulfurous odor, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, stomatitis, nasal discharge and bloody phlegm. If any of these symptoms occur, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse reactions indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.

Storage conditions and other information

  • Keep this medicine out of the reach of children and away from direct sunlight and heat.
