Effects of this medicine

By stimulating β2-adrenergic receptors, this medicine relaxes the bronchial smooth muscle and dilates the bronchi to facilitate breathing.
Usually, this medicine is used for the remission of various symptoms of airway obstruction such as breathing difficulty in bronchial asthma, chronic bronchitis, pulmonary emphysema and pneumoconiosis.

Before using this medicine, be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist

  • If you have ever had any unusual or allergic reaction (itch, rash etc.) to any medicines.
    If you have thyroid disorder (hyperthyroidism), hypertension, heart disorder or diabetes mellitus.
  • If you are already pregnant or are breastfeeding.
  • If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)

Dosing schedule (How to take this medicine)

  • Your dosing schedule prescribed by your doctor is ((        to be written by a healthcare professional))
  • General dosage regimen: Usually for adults, two puffs (0.2mg of fenoterol hydrobromide) are inhaled at a time only after an asthma attack starts. However, this medicine should be used while checking its effect, starting with one puff at a time. If a sufficient effect is not obtained 2-5 minutes after the first puff, one to two puffs may be added, however, a dose is limited to two puffs (0.2mg of fenoterol hydrobromide).
    DO NOT inhale consecutively more than the number of puffs instructed because it is dangerous. If you use this medicine for the next attack, leave at least 6 hours from the last puff. Do not use this medicine more than 4 times (16 puffs) in a day. Follow your doctor's instructions for inhalation method.
  • Gargle with water after inhaling the medicine.
    This medicine should be inhaled after an attack starts. If you experience difficulty in breathing within 6 hours of a puff, this is a sign of exacerbation of asthma. Check with your doctor immediately.
  • If you inhaled too much of this medicine, check with your doctor or pharmacist.
  • Do not stop your medication without the instructions of your doctor.

Precautions while taking this medicine

Possible adverse reactions to this medicine

Common side effects are reported as below. If any of them occurs, check with your doctor/pharmacist: heart pounding, shaking of hands and legs, headache, nausea and rash.
The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse reactions indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.
  • weakness, paralysis of limbs, difficulty in breathing [decrease in serum potassium level]

Storage conditions and other information

  • Keep out of the reach of children. Store away from heat, moisture and direct sunlight.
