Effects of this medicine

This medicine relaxes bronchial smooth muscle to dilate bronchi, and relieves labored breathing attributed to airway obstruction.
It is usually used in the treatment of bronchial asthma, chronic bronchitis, and pulmonary emphysema.

Before using this medicine, be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist

  • If you have previously experienced any allergic reaction(itch,rash etc.) to any medicine.
    If you ever experienced shock, convulsion or faint after taking of, or receiving injections of xanthines such as theophylline.
    If you have a history of epilepsy.
    If you are a patient with hepatic diseases.
    Child patients: If he/she has a history of epilepsy or convulsion.
    If he/she has a fever.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)

Dosing schedule (How to take this medicine)

  • Your dosing schedule prescribed by your doctor is ((        to be written by a healthcare professional))
  • In general, for adults, take 0.4 g (200 mg of the active ingredient); for children, take 0.2 to 0.4 g (100-200 mg of the active ingredient); at a time, twice daily, in the morning and before going to bed. The dosage may be adjusted according to the age or symptoms. Strictly follow the instructions.
    Swallow the granules without chewing with a cup of water or lukewarm water since it is a sustained-release preparation.
  • If you miss a dose, take a dose as soon as possible if you remember that you missed a dose 6 hours or over before the next dose. If it is 6 hours or less before the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. You should never take two dosese at one time.
  • If you accidentally take more than your prescribed dose,consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
  • Do not stop taking the this medicine unless doctor instructs you to do so.

Precautions while taking this medicine

  • Smoking may influence the effect of the medicine. Consult with your doctor/pharmacist if you newly start or stop smoking while you are receiving the medicine.
  • Do not take foods containing Saint John's wort since they may diminish the effect of the medicine.
  • Taking a large amount of drink such as coffee and tea which contains high caffeine may cause adverse effects.

Possible adverse reactions to this medicine

The most commonly reported adverse reactions include rash, pruritus, headache, insomnia, tremor (hand trembling), palpitations, nausea, vomiting, anorexia, diarrhea, abdominal pain and malaise. If any of these symptoms occur, consult with your doctor or phamacist.
The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse reactions indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.
  • convulsion, loss of consciousness  [convulsions, disturbed consciousness, acute encephalopathy]
  • muscular pain, weakness, reddish brown urine  [rhabdomyolysis]
  • chest pain, abdominal pain, black stool, hematemesis  [gastrointestinal hemorrhage]
  • shortness of breath, palpitation, pallor  [pure red cell aplasia]
  • respiratory distress, urticaria, dizziness, cold sweat  [anaphylactic shock]
  • nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, yellowing in the skin or conjunctiva ocular  [hepatic function disorders, jaundice]
  • increase in respiratory rate, dry mouth, polyuria  [tachypnea, hyperglycemia]
The above symptoms do not describe all the adverse reactions to this medicine. Consult with your doctor or pharmacist if you notice any symptoms of concern other than those listed above.

Storage conditions and other information

  • Keep the medicine out of the reach of children. Store it away from direct sunlight, heat and moisture.
  • Do not store the remainder and ask your pharmacist how to discard it.
