Effects of this medicine

This medicine suppresses cerebral limbic system and hypothalamus by acting on the benzodiazepine receptors in brain, thus exerting central nervous actions such as hypnotic, sedative and anti-anxiety effects.
It is usually used to treat insomnia and for preanesthetic medication.

Before using this medicine, be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist

  • If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rash, etc.) to any medicines.
    If you have acute angle-closure glaucoma, myasthenia gravis or decreased respiratory function.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)

Dosing schedule (How to take this medicine)

  • Your dosing schedule prescribed by your doctor is ((        to be written by a healthcare professional))
  • In general, for adults, take 0.5 to 2 mg of the active ingredient at a time, before bedtime or before surgery. The dosage may be adjusted according to your age or symptoms. For elderly patient, the maximum dose is up to 1 tablet (1 mg of the active ingredient) at a time. This medicine contains 2mg of the active ingredient in a tablet. Strictly follow the instructions.
  • If you have insomnia, take this medicine right before bedtime. Do not take this medicine when you need to wake up temporarily for work reasons.
  • If you miss a dose, you may take the missed dose when you have enough time until getting up in the next morning. You should not take two doses at one time.
  • If you accidentally take more than your prescribed dose, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
  • Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor instructs you to do so.

Precautions while taking this medicine

  • This medicine may cause drowsiness and decreased attention/concentration/reflex movement ability after the following morning. Do not work at heights or operate dangerous machinery, such as driving a car.
  • Drinking alcohol may intensify the medicinal effects. Avoid drinking during medication as much as possible.

Possible adverse reactions to this medicine

The most commonly reported adverse reactions include light headedness, drowsiness, malaise and rash. If any of these symptoms occur, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse reactions indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.
  • unable to stop using this medicine when you attempt to discontinue [dependence]
  • confused consciousness and unable to think normally, impaired mind, hallucination [irritable excitation, confusion]
  • shallow and rapid breathing, breathing difficulty, headache, dizziness [respiratory depression, carbon dioxide narcosis]
  • general malaise, loss of appetite, yellow discoloration of the skin and mucosa [liver dysfunction, jaundice]
  • muscle pain of limbs, lassitude, reddish brown urine [rhabdomyolysis]
The above symptoms do not describe all the adverse reactions to this medicine. Consult with your doctor or pharmacist if you notice any symptoms of concern other than those listed above.

Storage conditions and other information

  • Keep out of the reach of children. Store away from light, heat and moisture.
  • Discard the remainder. Do not store them.
