Effects of this medicine

This medicine suppresses sodium channel in cardiac muscle to delay the cardiac excitation conduction and consequently controls tachyarrhythmia.
It is usually used to treat urgent tachyarrhythmia (symptomatic paroxysmal atrial fibrillation/flutter, paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia, ventricular tachycardia and severe ventricular extrasystole judged as life-threatening by doctor).

Before using this medicine, be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist

  • If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rash, etc.) to any medicines.
    If you have congestive heart failure, atrioventricular block, sinoatrial block, asymptomatic ventricular extrasystole or unsustained ventricular tachycardia after myocardial infarction.
    If you are taking ritonavir (Norvir), mirabegron (Betanis) or telaprevir (Telavic).
  • If you are pregnant, possibly pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)

Precautions while taking this medicine

Possible adverse reactions to this medicine

The most commonly reported adverse reactions include decreased blood pressure, chest discomfort/pressure in chest, bradycardia, palpitation, blank feeling, dull headache, dizziness, dry mouth, nausea, numbness of tongue/lips, hot flush and heat sensation in face. If any of these symptoms occur, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse reactions indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.
  • palpitation, dizziness, shortness of breath [ventricular tachycardia, Torsades de pointes, ventricular fibrillation, atrial flutter]
  • dizziness, loss of consciousness [transient cardiac arrest, Adams-Stokes attack]
