Effects of this medicine

This medicine facilitates movement of intestine and encourages defecation by osmotic pressure action in the lower intestinal tract. Also, it is broken down into organic acid by bacteria in the intestine to curb production and absorption of ammonia there and to lower blood ammonia level.
It is usually used for the treatment of chronic constipation (excluding constipation due to organic diseases), to improve psychoneurotic disorder/finger tremor/abnormality in brainwave due to hyperammonaemia, and to promote the passage of gas/defecation after gynecologic or obstetric surgery.

Before using this medicine, be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist

  • If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rash, etc.) to any medicines.
    If you have galactosemia.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)

Dosing schedule (How to take this medicine)

  • Your dosing schedule prescribed by your doctor is ((        to be written by a healthcare professional))
  • For chronic constipation (excluding constipation due to organic diseases): In general, for adults, take 2 sachets (13 g of the active ingredient) at a time, twice a day. The dosage may be adjusted according to the symptoms, the maximum daily dose is 6 sachets (39 g).
    For hyperammonaemia: In general, for adults, take 1 to 2 sachets (6.5 to 13 g of the active ingredient) at a time, three times a day. The dosage may be adjusted according to the age or symptoms.
    For passage of gas/defecation after gynecologic or obstetric surgery: In general, for adults, take 1 to 3 sachets (6.5 to 19.5 g of the active ingredient) at a time, twice a day. The dosage may be adjusted according to the age or symptoms.
    In any case, strictly follow the instructions.
  • If you miss a dose, for chronic constipation (excluding constipation due to organic diseases), skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule.
    If you miss a dose, for hyperammonaemia or for passage of gas/defecation after gynecologic or obstetric surgery, take a dose as soon as possible. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule.
    In any case, you should not take two doses at one time.
  • If you accidentally take more than your prescribed dose, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
  • Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor instructs you to do so.

Precautions while taking this medicine

  • Color of the jelly may vary individually, some darker than others, due to the natural ingredient in this medicine. However, there is no problem in safety/efficacy of the medicine.

Possible adverse reactions to this medicine

The most commonly reported adverse reactions include diarrhea, abdominal distension and abdominal pain. If any of these symptoms occur, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse reactions indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.
