Effects of this medicine

This medicine works on benzodiazepine receptor in the brain in order to calm tense excitement of the brain, and control epileptic seizure (convulsion, loss of consciousness, etc.).
It is usually used to treat minor (motor) seizure, psychomotor seizure, and autonomic seizure.

Before using this medicine, be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist

  • If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rash, etc.) to any medicines.
    If you have: glaucoma, myasthenia gravis, cardiac/hepatic/renal/brain disorder, or decreased respiratory function.
    If you are debilitated.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)

Dosing schedule (How to take this medicine)

  • Your dosing schedule prescribed by your doctor is ((        to be written by a healthcare professional))
  • For adults and children : In general, take the initial dose of 0.5 to 1 mg of the active ingredient in 1 to 3 divided doses a day. The dosage will be increased gradually according to patient's symptom until optimal effectiveness is obtained. In general, the maintenance dosage is 2 to 6 mg in 1 to 3 divided doses a day.
    For babies and toddlers : In general, take the initial dose of 0.025 mg/kg of the active ingredient in 1 to 3 divided doses a day. The dosage will be increased gradually according to patient's symptom until optimal effectiveness is obtained. In general, the maintenance dosage is 0.1 mg/kg in 1 to 3 divided doses a day.
    The dosage should be adjusted according to the patient's age and symptoms in either case. 1 tablet contains 1.0 mg of the active ingredient. Strictly follow the instructions.
  • If you miss a dose, take the missed dose as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and follow your regular dosing schedule. You should never take two doses at one time.
  • If you accidentally take more than your prescribed dose, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
  • Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor instructs you to do so. If you suddenly decrease the dosage or stop your medication, it may cause repeated epileptic seizures, and may show slow recovery from the symptoms.

Precautions while taking this medicine

  • Alcohol causes this medicine to act excessively. Avoid taking alcohol while taking this medicine.
  • This medicine may cause drowsiness, lack of attention, concentration and reflex action ability, etc. Do not operate dangerous machinery such as driving a car while taking the medicine.

Possible adverse reactions to this medicine

The most commonly reported adverse reactions include sleepiness, lightheadedness, wheezing, hypersensitivity symptoms and rash. If any of these symptoms occur, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse reactions indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.
  • compulsive drug use, symptoms showing when suspending use of medicine (shaky hands and legs, sleeplessness, anxiety, convulsion, hallucination) [dependence]
  • shallow and fast breathing turning into breathing difficulty, fast breathing while sleeping [respiratory depression, tachypnea while sleeping]
  • disturbed consciousness, inability to have normal thoughts [irritable excitation, confusion]
  • general dullness, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, itch, yellowness in the white of the eye/the skin, dark urine [hepatic function disorder, jaundice]

Storage conditions and other information

  • Keep out of the reach of children. Store at room temperature (1 to 30 degrees Celsius), away from light and moisture.
  • Discard the remainder. Do not store them. Ask the pharmacist or your healthcare facility how to discard them.
