Effects of this medicine

This medicine suppresses enhancement of immune response by acting on immune cells and showing immunomodulation action. It shows antiviral action to prevent activation of inflammatory cells. It shows cytostatic action to prevent invasion of inflammatory cells into the central nervous system.
It is usually used to prevent relapse of multiple sclerosis.

Before using this medicine, be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist

  • If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rash, etc.) to any medicines.
    If you have psychoneurotic disorder such as depression and suicide attempt or have a history of them.
    If you have hepatic disease or epilepsy.
  • If you are pregnant, possibly pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)

Dosing schedule (How to take this medicine)

  • Your dosing schedule prescribed by your doctor is ((        to be written by a healthcare professional))
  • In general, for adults, inject 1 syringe (30 mcg of the active ingredient) intramuscularly once a week. Inject into upper, outer thigh and change injection sites (right and left thighs) for each dose. Strictly follow the instructions.
  • Do not inject into to an area with rash or erosion. Do not inject into an area with skin redness, discoloration, hardness or pain.
  • Some slight modification in dosing schedule is allowed. Inject the next dose at intervals of at least 1 day to adjust your dosing schedule.
  • If you accidentally use more than your prescribed dose, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
  • Do not stop using this medicine unless your doctor instructs you to do so.

Precautions while taking this medicine

Possible adverse reactions to this medicine

The most commonly reported adverse reactions include full-like symptoms (fever, muscular pain, chill, headache, dull), erythema/swelling/subcutaneous bleeding in injection site. If any of these symptoms occur, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse reactions indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.
  • being depressed, shallow sleep, excitement [depression, suicide attempt, manic state, aggressive behavior]
  • facial pallor, breathing difficulty, cold sweat [anaphylactoid symptoms]
  • anemia, fatigability, bleeding tendency [decreased white blood cell, decreased platelets, pancytopenia]
  • general malaise, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting [fulminant hepatitis, hepatitis, liver dysfunction]
  • fever/dry cough, breathing difficulty [interstitial pneumonia]
The above symptoms do not describe all the adverse reactions to this medicine. Consult with your doctor or pharmacist if you notice any symptoms of concern other than those listed above.

Storage conditions and other information

  • Keep out of the reach of children. Store in the refrigerator (2 to 8 degrees Celsius) and keep away from direct sunlight, heat and freezing.
  • Before use, keep the medicine in a box and warm it to room temperature. Use the medicine within 7 days after opening. Do not use damaged products.
  • Ask the pharmacist and the medical institution how to discard them.
