Effects of this medicine

This medicine decreases blood pressure through blockade of α1- and β-receptors, and prevents angina attacks and controls disturbed pulse by suppressing excessive heart activity. It also relieves shivering of hands, etc., through blockade of β2-receptors in the skeletal muscle.
It is usually used to treat essential hypertension (mild to moderate), angina pectoris, tachyarrhythmia, and essential tremor.

Before using this medicine, be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist

  • If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rash, etc.) to any medicines.
    If you have slow pulse, atrioventricular block, sinoatrial block, sick sinus syndrome, diabetic ketoacidosis, metabolic acidosis, bronchial asthma, bronchospasm, cardiogenic shock, right heart failure due to pulmonary hypertension, congestive heart failure or untreated pheochromocytoma.
  • If you are pregnant, breastfeeding or possibly pregnant.
  • If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)

Dosing schedule (How to take this medicine)

  • Your dosing schedule prescribed by your doctor is ((        to be written by a healthcare professional))
  • For essential hypertension, angina pectoris, tachyarrhythmia: In general, for adults, take 2 tablets (10 mg of the active ingredient) at a time, twice a day. The dosage may be adjusted according to the disease, age or symptoms. If the effect is insufficient, the dosage may be increased up to 6 tablets (30 mg) a day.
    For essential tremor: In general, for adults, start with 1 tablet (5 mg of the active ingredient) at a time, twice a day. If the effect is insufficient, take 2 tablets (10 mg) at a time, twice a day. The dosage may be adjusted according to the age or symptoms. However, the maximum daily dose is 6 tablets (30 mg).
    In any case, strictly follow the instructions.
  • If you miss a dose, take the missed dose as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose. You should never take two doses at one time.
  • If you accidentally take more than your prescribed dose, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
  • Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor instructs you to do so.

Precautions while taking this medicine

  • This medicine may cause dizziness/light headedness due to decreased blood pressure. Pay close attention when operating dangerous machinery, such as driving a car.

Possible adverse reactions to this medicine

The most commonly reported adverse reactions include chest pain/chest discomfort, dizziness/light headedness, dizziness on standing up, hypotension, lassitude/malaise, headache/dull headache, drowsiness, loose stool/diarrhea, stomach discomfort, abdominal pain, nausea/vomiting, rash, hives, itch and burning sensation. If any of these symptoms occur, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse reactions indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.
  • shortness of breath, general edema, dizziness [heart failure, atrioventricular block, sinoatrial block, sick sinus syndrome, slow pulse]

Storage conditions and other information

  • Keep out of the reach of children. Store away from direct sunlight, heat and moisture.
