Effects of this medicine

This medicine has anti-cholinergic effects which relieve symptoms of parkinsonism such as muscle stiffness or hand tremor. It also improves allergic symptoms (itching, sneezing, nasal discharge, coughing etc.) by antihistamine effect.
It is usually used to improve paralysis agitans, parkinsonism, sneezing/nasal discharge/coughing caused by upper airway inflammation such as cold, hay fever (pollinosis), allergic rhinitis, itching caused by skin diseases (eczema/dermatitis, cutaneous pruritus, drug eruption, toxicoderma), hives, vasomotor edema and kinesia (motion sickness). It is also used for anesthetic premedication or artificial hibernation by medicine.

Before using this medicine, be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist

  • If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rash, etc.) to any medicines.
  • If you have glaucoma, urinary tract disease such as prostatic hypertrophy.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)

Dosing schedule (How to take this medicine)

  • Your dosing schedule prescribed by your doctor is ((        to be written by a healthcare professional))
  • Paralysis agitans, parkinsonism: In general, for adults, take 25 to 200 mg as active ingredient per day in several divided doses.
    Other diseases: In general, for adults, take 5 to 25 mg at a time, 1 to 3 times a day.
  • In any of the above indications, the dosage may be adjusted according to the disease, age and symptom. This preparation contains 25 mg of the active ingredient in a tablet. Strictly follow the instructions.
  • If you miss a dose, take the dose as soon as possible. If it is close to your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. You should never take two doses at one time.
  • If you accidentally take more than your prescribed dose, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
  • Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor instructs you to do so.

Precautions while taking this medicine

  • This medicine may cause drowsiness. Avoid driving a car or operating dangerous machinery.
  • Pay attention that drinking alcohol may intensify medicinal effects.

Possible adverse reactions to this medicine

The most commonly reported adverse reactions include drowsiness, headache, dry mouth, rash, photosensitivity and liver disorder (general malaise, nausea, yellowing of the skin and whites of the eyes). If any of these symptoms occur, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse reactions indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.
  • fever (over 38 degrees Celsius), muscle stiffness, tremor in the limbs [malignant syndrome]
  • (when administered to children) loss of consciousness, pauses in breathing during sleeping [sudden infant death syndrome, infant sleep apnoea attack]
The above symptoms do not describe all the adverse reactions to this medicine. Consult with your doctor or pharmacist if you notice any symptoms of concern other than those listed above.

Storage conditions and other information

  • Keep out of the reach of children. Store away from direct sunlight, heat and moisture.
  • Discard the remainder. Do not store them.
