Effects of this medicine

This medicine shows suppressive effects on the proliferation of hepatitis C virus (antiviral effects) by inhibiting the proteins involved in replication of hepatitis C virus.
It is usually used to improve viremia associated with chronic hepatitis C with or without compensated cirrhosis.

Before using this medicine, be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist

  • If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rash, etc.) to any medicines.
    If you have liver dysfunction.
    If you have or have a history of hepatitis B virus infection.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)

Dosing schedule (How to take this medicine)

  • Your dosing schedule prescribed by your doctor is ((        to be written by a healthcare professional))
  • Serogroup 1 (genotype 1) or serogroup 2 (genotype 2) chronic hepatitis C without compensated cirrhosis: In general, for adults, take 3 tablets at a time, once a day after a meal. The duration of treatment is 8 weeks. In some case, the duration of treatment may be 12 weeks according to your treatment history of chronic hepatitis C.
    Serogroup 1 (genotype 1) or serogroup 2 (genotype 2) chronic hepatitis C with compensated cirrhosis: In general, for adults, take 3 tablets at a time, once a day after a meal. The duration of treatment is 12 weeks.
    Neither serogroup 1 (genotype 1) nor serogroup 2 (genotype 2) chronic hepatitis C with or without compensated cirrhosis: In general, for adults, take 3 tablets at a time, once a day after a meal. The duration of treatment is 12 weeks.
    In any case, strictly follow the instructions.
  • If you miss a dose and remember within 18 hours after the scheduled time, take the missed dose as soon as possible. However, if more than 18 hours have passed, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. You should never take two doses at one time.
  • If you accidentally take more than your prescribed dose, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
  • Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor instructs you to do so.

Precautions while taking this medicine

  • Avoid taking any food containing St. John's wort, since it may decrease the blood level of the medicine and diminish medicinal effects.

Possible adverse reactions to this medicine

The most commonly reported adverse reactions include itching, headache and dullness. If any of these symptoms occur, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse reactions indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.
  • general malaise, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting [liver disorder]
  • yellow discoloration of skin and/or conjunctiva [jaundice]

Storage conditions and other information

  • Keep out of the reach of children. Store away from direct sunlight, heat and moisture.
  • Discard the remainder. Do not store them.
