Effects of this medicine

This medicine prevents pores from clogging by inhibiting differentiation of epidermal keratinocytes, and suppresses formation of comedones. It is effective in reducing non-inflammatory lesions [closed comedones (whiteheads), open comedones (blackheads)] and further inflammatory lesions (papules).
It is usually used for the treatment of acne vulgaris.

Before using this medicine, be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist

  • If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rash, etc.) to any medicines.
  • If you are pregnant, possibly pregnant or breastfeeding. If you desire or became pregnant during treatment, discontinue using this medicine and tell your doctor.
  • If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)

Dosing schedule (How to take this medicine)

  • In general, after washing your face before bedtime, apply a suitable amount of this medicine to acnes, once daily. Strictly follow the instructions.
  • Use this medicine only for facial acne.
  • Since this medicine may cause feeling of skin irritation, do not apply to affected skin areas with cuts, scratches and eczema.
  • Avoid using this medicine to eyes, lips, nostrils and mucus membrane.
  • Take care so that this medicine does not get into your eyes. If it gets into your eyes, wash out your eyes with water immediately.
  • If you miss a dose the day before, use a suitable amount of this medicine before bedtime following the instructions. You should not use it twice daily or two doses at one time.
  • If you accidentally use more than your prescribed dose, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
  • Do not stop using this medicine unless your doctor instructs you to do so.

Precautions while taking this medicine

  • Since this medicine may cause feeling of skin irritation, avoid being exposed to excessive ultraviolet lights such as sunlight, tanning lamps, etc.

Possible adverse reactions to this medicine

The most commonly reported adverse reactions include dry skin, discomfort feeling of skin, skin exfoliation, erythema and itch. These adverse reactions mostly occur within the first 2 weeks of use, and they are usually mild and temporary. However, if the symptoms worsen or do not improve, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse reactions indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.
