Effects of this medicine

This medicine shows antiinflammatory effect by inhibiting synthesis of prostagradines. It also inhibits synthesis of thromboxane A2 by blocking cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1). It consequently suppresses platelet aggregation to prevent blood clotting and vessel clogging.
It is usually used to treat Kawasaki disease and its cardiovascular aftereffect.

Before using this medicine, be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist

  • If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rash, etc.) to any medicines.
    If you have peptic ulcer (gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer), bleeding tendency/blood abnormality.
    If you have aspirin-induced asthma or a history of it.
    If you are planning to have a surgery or dental extraction.
    If you are infected with chickenpox or influenza.
  • If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)

Dosing schedule (How to take this medicine)

  • Your dosing schedule prescribed by your doctor is ((        to be written by a healthcare professional))
  • Feverish period in acute phase: In general, take 30 to 50 mg of the active ingredient per kg of body weight (mg/kg) in 3 divided doses a day.
    Recovery phase to chronic phase after fever: In general, take 3 to 5 mg/kg of the active ingredient at a time, once a day.
    The dosage may be adjusted according to your symptoms in any case. This preparation contains 100 mg of aspirin in a tablet. Strictly follow the instructions.
  • This preparation is designed to dissolve and to be absorbed slowly in the intenstine, in order to lighten possible stomach disorder. Swallow down the medicine without cracking, crunching or grinding unless otherwise instructed. Do not take on an empty stomach.
  • If you miss a dose, take a dose as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and follow your regular dosing schedule. You should never take two doses at one time.
  • If you accidentally take more than your prescribed dose, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
  • Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor instructs you to do so.

Precautions while taking this medicine

Possible adverse reactions to this medicine

The most commonly reported adverse reactions include gastrointestinal disorder, hives, rash, edema, dizziness, headache, excitation, hyperpnea, malaise and anemia. If any of these symptoms occur, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse reactions indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.
  • respiratory distress, swelling of face/tongue/throat, hives [shock, anaphylaxis]
  • headache, nausea/vomiting, blood vomiting/melena (black stools) [gastrointestinal/brain bleeding]
  • skin or mucosal sores, blister, fever [toxic epidermal necrolysis, mucocutaneous-ocular syndrome, exfoliative dermatitis]
  • respiratory distress, wheezing [asthma attack]
  • general malaise, yellowing of the skin and the white of eyes, loss of appetite [liver dysfunction, jaundice]
The above symptoms do not describe all the adverse reactions to this medicine. Consult with your doctor or pharmacist if you notice any symptoms of concern other than those listed above.

Storage conditions and other information

  • Keep out of the reach of children. Store away from direct sunlight, heat and moisture.
  • Discard the remainder. Do not store them.
