Effects of this medicine

This medicine shows anti-inflammatory action by inhibiting synthesis of prostaglandins. This medicine also prevents clogging of blood vessels due to blood clots by suppressing platelet aggregation through inhibition of the synthesis of thromboxane A2 as a result of cyclooxygenase (COX-1) inhibition.
It is usually used to treat Kawasaki disease (including cardiovascular aftereffects due to Kawasaki disease).

Before using this medicine, be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist

  • If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rash, etc.) to any medicines.
    If you have peptic ulcer or bleeding tendency.
    If you have aspirin-induced asthma or a history of it.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)

Dosing schedule (How to take this medicine)

  • Your dosing schedule prescribed by your doctor is ((        to be written by a healthcare professional))
  • Feverish period in acute phase: Take 30 to 50 mg per kilogram of the body weight of the active ingredient in three divided doses a day.
    Convalescent/chronic phase after defervescence: Take 3 to 5 mg per kilogram of the body weight of the active ingredient once a day.
    In any case, the dosage may be adjusted according to the symptoms.This medicine contains 100 mg of the active ingredient in a tablet. Strictly follow the instructions.
  • As this medicine is an enteric-coated tablet, take it without chewing. Do not crack, crush or grind the tablet unless otherwise instructed. Avoid taking this medicine on an empty stomach.
  • If you miss a dose, take the missed dose as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose. You should never take two doses at one time.
  • If you accidentally take more than your prescribed dose, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
  • Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor instructs you to do so.

Precautions while taking this medicine

  • This medicine may induce or worsen gastrointestinal bleeding when taken with alcohol. Avoid taking this medicine with any alcohol.

Possible adverse reactions to this medicine

The most commonly reported adverse reactions include gastrointestinal disorder, hives, rash, edema, anemia, dizziness, excitement, headache, hyperventilation and malaise. If any of these symptoms occur, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse reactions indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.
  • respiratory distress, generalized flushing, angioedema [shock, anaphylactoid symptoms]
  • headache, nausea, vomiting of blood/melena [bleeding in brain/gastrointestinal tract, etc.]
  • fever, redness and swelling of skin/mucosa with rash or blisters, conjunctival hyperemia [mucocutaneous ocular syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, exfoliative dermatitis]
  • anemic symptoms, bleeding tendency, fever [aplastic anemia, decreased platelets, decreased white blood cell]
  • breathing difficulty, wheezing (whistling breath)  [asthma attack]
The above symptoms do not describe all the adverse reactions to this medicine. Consult with your doctor or pharmacist if you notice any symptoms of concern other than those listed above.

Storage conditions and other information

  • Keep out of the reach of children. Store away from direct sunlight, heat and moisture.
  • Discard the remainder. Do not store them.
