Effects of this medicine

This medicine suppresses pituitary-gonadal functions and starts to suppress secretion of sex hormone in 1 to 2 weeks after spraying it into the nasal cavity. Continuous use of this medicine suppresses secretion of sex hormone and inhibits ovarian function and testicular function.
It is usually used to treat endometriosis, reduce uterine fibroid size and improve symptoms associated with uterine fibroid (hypermenorrhea, lower abdominal pain, lower back pain, anemia).

Before using this medicine, be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist

  • If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rash, etc.) to any medicines.
    If you have undiagnosed atypical genital bleeding.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)

Dosing schedule (How to take this medicine)

  • Your dosing schedule prescribed by your doctor is ((        to be written by a healthcare professional))
  • In general, give 1 spray (200 mcg of Nafarelin) into one side of nasal cavity at a time, twice a day, from the start day of menstruation or from the next day. Strictly follow the instructions.
  • For stable absorption, blow your nose before spraying to clear the nasal passages.
  • Lean your head forward, insert the nebulizer deep and vertically into the nasal cavity, breathe in through the nose, and at the same time, spray once quickly into the nasal cavity. After spraying, tilt your head back and breathe quietly through the nose to let the medical solution spread deep into the nose.
  • If you miss a dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. You should never spray two doses at one time.
  • If you accidentally use more than your prescribed dose, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
  • Do not stop using this medicine unless your doctor instructs you to do so.

Precautions while taking this medicine

  • Prevent pregnancy while taking the medicine. Use birth control method other than oral medicine.
  • If you use the medicine more than 6 months, bone mass measurement will be performed. Receive the measurement on your designated date.

Possible adverse reactions to this medicine

The most commonly reported adverse reactions include glow, vaginal dryness, vaginal discharge, breast engorgement, acne, hair loss, rash, chest pain, eczema, hives, itch, shortness of breath, constipation, diarrhea, dry mouth, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, nausea/vomiting, shoulder stiffness, pain (in limbs/shoulder/lower back), joint pain, headache, dizziness, nervous irritability, feeling of numbness, somnolence, anxiety, sweating, dizziness on standing up, ear ringing, insomnia, cardiac palpitation, coldness of limbs, blood pressure elevation, irritative symptom of the nasal mucosa, rhinitis, edema, body weight gain, throat irritation and dullness. If any of these symptoms occur, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse reactions indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.
  • depressed feeling, general malaise, loss of appetite [depression]
  • nose bleeding, gum bleeding, excessive menstrual bleeding [decreased platelets]
  • general malaise, loss of appetite, yellowing of the skin or conjunctiva [hepatic dysfunction, jaundice]
  • menostaxis (excessively long menses), hypermenorrhea (excessive menstrual bleeding), frequent menstruation  [abnormal vaginal bleeding]
  • enlarged feeling of abdomen, lower abdominal pain, loss of appetite [ovarian cyst rupture]
The above symptoms do not describe all the adverse reactions to this medicine. Consult with your doctor or pharmacist if you notice any symptoms of concern other than those listed above.

Storage conditions and other information

  • Keep out of the reach of children. Store away from direct sunlight, heat and moisture.
  • Discard the remainder. Do not store them.
