Effects of this medicine

This medicine blocks calcium channels on vascular smooth muscles to dilate smaller arteries, and decreases blood pressure. It also prevents developing anginal attacks and improves renal function at renal failure.
It is usually used in the treatment of hypertension, renal parenchymal hypertension and angina pectoris.

Before using this medicine, be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist

  • If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rash, etc.) to any medicines.
    If you have: heart disease, low blood pressure or liver disorder.
  • If you are pregnant, possibly pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)

Dosing schedule (How to take this medicine)

  • Your dosing schedule prescribed by your doctor is ((        to be written by a healthcare professional))
  • For treatment of hypertension and renal parenchymal hypertension: In general, for adults, take 2 to 4 mg of the active ingredient at a time, once a day, after breakfast. The dosage may be adjusted according to the age or symptoms. If the effect is insufficient, it may be increased up to 8 mg once a day. In severe hypertension, take 4 to 8 mg at a time, once a day, after breakfast.
    For treatment of angina pectoris: In general, for adults, take 4 mg of the active ingredient at a time, twice a day, after breakfast and dinner. The dosage may be adjusted according to the age or symptoms.
    This medicine contains 8 mg of active ingredient in a tablet. Strictly follow the instructions in any case.
  • If you miss a dose, take a dose as soon as possible. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. You should never take two doses at one time.
  • If you accidentally take more than your prescribed dose, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
  • Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor instructs you to do so.

Precautions while taking this medicine

  • Intake of grapefruit juice may enhance the blood pressure lowering effect of this medicine. Refrain from taking the medicine together with grapefruit juice.
  • The medicine may cause dizziness due to blood pressure decreased. Be careful when you work at heights, drive a car or operate dangerous machinery.

Possible adverse reactions to this medicine

The most commonly reported adverse reactions include palpitation, facial flush, glow, blood pressure reductions, headache, dizziness, light headedness, dizziness on standing up, rash, itch, photosensitivity, edema and gynecomastia. If any of these symptoms occur, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse reactions indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.
  • general malaise, loss of appetite, yellowing in skin and white of eyes [hepatic dysfunction, jaundice]

Storage conditions and other information

  • Keep out of the reach of children. Store away from direct sunlight, heat and moisture.
  • Discard the remainder. Do not store them. Ask the pharmacist or medical facility how to discard them.
