Effects of this medicine

This medicine decreases tension of the eye (intraocular pressure) by reducing production of fluid in the eye (aqueous humor) due to beta-blocking activity to prevent weakening eyesight caused by glaucoma.
It is usually used in the treatment of glaucoma and ocular hypertension.

Before using this medicine, be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist

  • If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rash, etc.) to any medicines.
    If you are a patient with bronchial asthma or have a history of bronchial asthma.
    If you are a patient with bronchopasm, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, heart failure, sinus bradycardia, atrioventricular block, cardiogenic shock, or diabetes.
    If you are wearing contact lenses.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)

Dosing schedule (How to take this medicine)

  • Your dosing schedule prescribed by your doctor is ((        to be written by a healthcare professional))
  • In general, apply 1 drop of 0.25% preparation at a time, once a day. If the effect is insufficient, apply 1 drop of 0.5% preparation at a time, once a day. This medicine is a preparation which contains 0.5% as timolol. Strictly follow the instructions.
  • When applying it, shake the container once with the cap on (there is no need to shake many times). Avoid touching the dropper tip against the eyelid or eyelashes. After applying, keep the eyes closed, dabbing the inner corner of the eyes for 1 to 5 minutes. If you need to apply another eyedrop, apply this eyedrop last, at least 10 minutes after applying the other eyedrop.
  • If you miss a dose, apply a dose as soon as possible. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. You should not use two doses at one time.
  • If you accidentally use more than your prescribed dose, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
  • Do not stop using this medicine unless your doctor instructs you to do so.

Precautions while taking this medicine

  • It is not abnormal if the medicine causes blurred vision or leaves the eyes a greasy feeling. This condition is because of the property of the medicine.

Possible adverse reactions to this medicine

The most commonly reported adverse reactions include eye irritation, conjunctival hyperaemia, corneal epithelium disorder, blurred vision, bradycardia (slow pulse) and headache. If any of these symptoms occur, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse reactions indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.
  • foreign-body feeling in the eye, eye pain, conjunctival hyperaemia  [ocular pemphigoid]
  • shortness of breath, hard to breathe, wheezing  [bronchospasm, breathing difficulty, respiratory failure]
  • breathing difficulty, unconsciousness, orthostatic dizziness  [heart block, congestive heart failure, cerebral ischemia, cardiac arrest, cerebrovascular disorder]
  • fever, faical erythma, photosensitivity  [systemic lupus erythematosus]
The above symptoms do not describe all the adverse reactions to this medicine. Consult with your doctor or pharmacist if you notice any symptoms of concern other than those listed above.

Storage conditions and other information

  • The eye dropper contains 2.5mL of the medicine although it is a 5mL container.
  • Keep out of the reach of children. Store away from freezing, put in a shading sachet.
  • Discard the remainder. Do not store them.
  • Do not replace it in other containers (cause of misuse and quality change).
  • Do not put other thing in the container and use it.
