Effects of this medicine

This medicine inhibits the enzyme that degrades incretin, a hormone regulating blood glucose levels, and improves glycemic control by enhancing insulin secretion in response to blood glucose level.
It is usually used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Before using this medicine, be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist

  • If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rash, etc.) to any medicines.
    If you have ketosis, diabetic coma or precoma stage, type 1 diabetes mellitus, infection, in pre/post operative period, or trauma.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)

Dosing schedule (How to take this medicine)

  • Your dosing schedule prescribed by your doctor is ((        to be written by a healthcare professional))
  • In general, for adults, take 20 mg of teneligliptin at a time, once a day. If the effect is insufficient, the dose may be increased up to 40 mg at a time, once a day. This preparation contains 20 mg of teneligliptin in a tablet. Strictly follow the instructions.
  • If you miss a dose, take a dose as soon as possible. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. You should never take two doses at one time.
  • If you accidentally take more than your prescribed dose, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
  • Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor instructs you to do so.

Precautions while taking this medicine

  • Strictly follow the instructions on dietary / exercise therapy.
  • This medicine may cause hypoglycemia symptoms. Take care in working at heights, driving a car or operating machinery requiring alertness.
  • If any of hypoglycemia symptoms occur, take a sufficient amount of sugar (table sugar, glucose, soft drinks, etc.). If you concomitantly take α-glucosidase inhibitor (a medicine that delays absorption of sugar), take glucose in case of any hypoglycemia symptoms.

Possible adverse reactions to this medicine

The most commonly reported adverse reactions include hypoglycemia, constipation, feeling of abdomen enlarged, abdominal discomfort, nausea, abdominal pain, meteorism, stomatitis, eczema, rash, pruritus, dermatitis and malaise. If any of these symptoms occur, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse reactions indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.
  • cold sweat, hungry feeling, shaky limbs [hypoglycemia]
  • severe constipation, stomach inflation, continued abdominal pain [intestinal obstruction]
  • general malaise, loss of appetite, yellowing of the skin or the whites of the eyes [hepatic function disorder]
  • dry cough, respiratory distress, fever [interstitial pneumonia]
  • rash with blister [pemphigoid]
  • severe pain in the upper abdomen, back pain, nausea [acute pancreatitis]
The above symptoms do not describe all the adverse reactions to this medicine. Consult with your doctor or pharmacist if you notice any symptoms of concern other than those listed above.

Storage conditions and other information

  • Keep out of the reach of children. Store away from direct sunlight, heat and moisture.
  • Discard the remainder. Do not store them.
