Effects of this medicine

This medicine is metabolized to indomethacin in the body and inhibits prostaglandin biosynthesis to reduce inflammation and pain.
It is usually used to relieve inflammation/pain caused by shoulder periarthritis, low back pain, cervico-omo-brachial syndrome, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis or after surgery/injury, or to relieve fever/pain associated with acute upper respiratory tract inflammation.

Before using this medicine, be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist

  • If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rash, etc.) to any medicines.
    If you have: peptic ulcer, blood abnormality, liver disorder, renal disorder, cardiac function failure, hypertension, pancreatitis, aspirin induced asthma or its history.
  • If you are pregnant, possibly pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)

Dosing schedule (How to take this medicine)

  • Your dosing schedule prescribed by your doctor is ((        to be written by a healthcare professional))
  • To relieve fever/pain (associated with acute upper respiratory tract inflammation): In general, for adults, take 1 tablet (30 mg of the active ingredient) at a time, as needed. The dosage may be adjusted according to the age or symptoms. However, the dosage should not exceed twice a day and 3 tablets (90 mg) a day.
    To relieve inflammation/pain (other than acute upper respiratory tract inflammation)
    : In general, for adults, take 1 tablet (30 mg of the active ingredient) at a time, three to four times a day. The dosage may be adjusted according to the disease, age or symptoms. However, the daily dose should not exceed 6 tablets (180 mg).
    In any case, avoid taking the medicine on an empty stomach as possible. Strictly follow the instructions.
  • Take the medicine immediately after meal or with food/milk, to prevent gastrointestinal damage.
  • If you miss a dose, take the missed dose as soon as possible. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and follow your regular dosing schedule. You should never take two doses at one time.
  • If you accidentally take more than your prescribed dose, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
  • Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor instructs you to do so.

Precautions while taking this medicine

  • This medicine may cause sleepiness or dizziness. Avoid operating dangerous machinery, such as driving a car.

Possible adverse reactions to this medicine

The most commonly reported adverse reactions include gastric pain, gastric distress, nausea/vomiting, anemia, prolonged bleeding, rash, itch and visual abnormality such as foggy vision. If any of these symptoms occur, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse reactions indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.
  • cold sweat, pale face, respiratory distress  [shock, anaphylactoid symptoms]
  • abdominal pain, nausea/vomiting, vomiting of blood/melena  [perforation of the digestive tract, gastrointestinal bleeding, gastrointestinal ulcer, hemorrhagic colitis]
  • sore throat, headache, high fever  [agranulocytosis]
  • urinary retention/decreased urine output, edema, dry mouth  [acute renal failure]
The above symptoms do not describe all the adverse reactions to this medicine. Consult with your doctor or pharmacist if you notice any symptoms of concern other than those listed above.

Storage conditions and other information

  • Keep out of reach of children. Store away from direct sunlight, heat and moisture.
  • Discard the remainder. Do not store them. Ask the pharmacy or medical institution how to discard.
