Effects of this medicine

This medicine relaxes bronchial smooth muscle to dilate bronchi, and relieves labored breathing attributed to airway obstruction. It relieves cough by depressing activity of a certain part of the brain (cough center) which controls cough.
It is usually used for treatment of cough and symptoms of airways obstruction associated with asthma and bronchitis.

Before using this medicine, be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist

  • If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rach, etc.) to any medicines.
    If you have glaucoma, epilepsy, difficulty in urination due to enlargement of the prostate gland; a history of shock, convulsion or loss of consciousness after taking/being injected with xanthine medication such as theophylline; a history of allergic hepatic dysfunction after taking papaverine preparations.
    If you are being injected with adrenalin; are taking/inhaling/being injected with isoprenaline hydrochloride.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)

Dosing schedule (How to take this medicine)

  • Your dosing schedule prescribed by your doctor is ((        to be written by a healthcare professional))
  • In general, for adults, take 1 to 2 tablets at a time, 2 to 3 times a day. For temporary use, take 1 to 2 tablets when an attack is anticipated or at bedtime. The dosage may be adjusted depending on severity of symptoms or age. Strictly follow the instructions.
  • If you miss a dose, take the missed dose as soon as possible. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. You should not take two doses at one time.
  • If you accidentally take more than your prescribed dose, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
  • Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor instructs you to do so.

Precautions while taking this medicine

  • This medicine may cause drowsiness. Avoid operating a motor vehicle or machinery.
  • Please note that drinking alcohol may enhance the effect of the medicine.

Possible adverse reactions to this medicine

The most commonly reported adverse reactions include allergic hepatic dysfunction, rash, pulpitation, headache, nervousness, insomnia, sleepiness, thirst, anorexia, nausea and vomiting. If any of these symptoms occur, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse reactions indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.
