Effects of this medicine

It is a form of activated vitamin D3 that improves bone metabolic turnover and helps bone formation by enhancing calcium absorption and increasing serum calcium level.
It is usually used to treat osteoporosis and symptoms induced by abnormal vitamin D metabolism found in: chronic renal failure, hypoparathyroidism, rickets/osteomalacia.

Before using this medicine, be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist

  • If you ever experienced any allergic reaction (itch, rash etc.) to any medicine.
    If you are a patient with hypercalcaemia or vitamin D intoxication.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)

Dosing schedule (How to take this medicine)

  • Your dosing schedule prescribed by your doctor is ((        to be written by a healthcare professional))
  • Dosage of this medicine must be adjusted under proper control of the serum calcium level.
    General dosage regimen: For adults under treatment of osteoporosis, take 0.25μg of the active ingredient at a time, twice a day.
    General dosage regimen: For adults under treatment of chronic renal failure, take 0.25-0.75μg of the active ingredient at a time, daily.
    General dosage regimen: For adults under treatment of hypoparathyroidism and other conditions with abnormal vitamin D metabolism, take 1-4 capsules (0.5-2.0μg of the active ingredient) at a time, daily.
    In any case, dosage may be adjusted according to your disease/age/symptoms. One capsule contains 0.5μg of the active ingredient. Strictly follow the instructions of your doctor/pharmacist.
  • If you missed a dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. DO NOT take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.
  • If you took too much of this medicine (more than ordered), check with your doctor/pharmacist.
  • Do not stop taking this medicine without the instructions of your doctor.

Precautions while taking this medicine

  • Excessive intake of calcium and vitamin D supplements may cause onset of side effects. If you need to take those supplements or food, check with your doctor in advance.

Possible adverse reactions to this medicine

Common side effects are reported as below. If any of them occurs, check with your doctor/pharmacist: itch, nausea.
